Business opportunities from Indonesian coconut processed products

Coconut is one of the products from Indonesia. Many processed products can be made from coconut. Although the global market is in dire need of these products, local producers in this sector are still in the process of responding to growing global demand.

The following coconut products have an export value:

Copra

Copra goes through several stages. The first step is to peel the coconut shell, then separate and dry the coconut granules. Coconuts to be used as copra should be stored several days in advance. The coconut shell is then removed with a tool made from scrap iron.

The shelled coconut will be split in two and the water will be collected to make other products. The flesh of the coconut must be dried to maintain the quality of the coconut, as the flesh is intact. Copra is used as a raw material for the production of dry coconut oil.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is one of the largest export products produced from products derived from coconut. There are three methods for refining coconut oil: wet method, pressing, and solvent extraction.

Desiccated coconut

Desiccated coconut is obtained from hygienically produced coconut meat. Desiccated coconut is often used to make various food products such as coconut flour, coconut cream, roasted coconut, candied coconut, and coconut flakes.

Coconut shell charcoal

Coconut shell charcoal is one of the products of coconut processing, which can be converted into materials containing activated carbon. The use of activated carbon is now in trend, so you can find its application in a variety of industries, from the beauty industry to food, medicine, and soap making.

Coconut fiber

Generally, coconut fiber is traditionally processed to make mops, brooms and ropes. But now the processing of coconut fiber is carried out on modern machines.

Coconut sugar

Coconut sugar is the result of coconut diversification. Candies are made from coconut extract. Unfortunately, the use of the juice as a raw material for the production of coconut sugar is still limited. In fact, the export value of coconut sugar is quite promising. Coconut sugar is the result of the evaporation process of the juice.
