What is Writing According to Experts? (update 1)

What is Writing According to Experts?  In this article, I want to share about the recent definition of writing according to the experts that you might need as a reference in your scientific work, final paper, thesis, or dissertation.

Writing Definition 1

According to Harmer (2004: 31), writing is the process of recording a language as a result of a certain visual sign or graphic.

Writing Definition 2

Key Hylad (2003:3) presents the definition of writing as a product of grammar and vocabulary, and the development of writing is the result of imitation and manipulation of models provided by the teacher. For many who hold this view, writing is an extension of the grammatical tools of reinforcing language patterns by forming habits and testing students' ability to form well-functioning sentences.

Writing Definition 3

Another statement about writing skills comes from Key Hylad (2003:5) writing is a complex construct that can only be learned by developing grammar and the ability to use grammar.

Writing Definition 4

Arthur Hughes (1989: 87) stated that writing demonstrates the ability to communicate in such a way that the reader is completely satisfied with the situation. It shows an excellent logical organizational structure that makes it easy to follow the messages. The relevant argument is presented in an interesting way, the main ideas begin clearly and precisely with highly effective supporting material, and the arguments are effectively linked to experiences or opinions. There are errors in vocabulary, punctuation, spelling or grammar, and writing demonstrates the ability to manipulate language systems precisely and appropriately.

Conclusion

Based on the above definition, the researcher concludes that writing is the result of the language registration process in the form of a traditional visual sign or a graphic sign on the surface.

Writing has always been part of the curriculum in teaching English. However, when mastering the skill of effective writing is considered the main goal of students, they can be used for a variety of purposes, from simple "backup".
