2. Detailed Reading

Whether you are reading a high school or college textbook, deep reading is the style you will want to use because it allows you to remember more information than other styles.

4. Scanning

Finally, there is a reading technique known as scanning. This method differs greatly from the other three in that scanning requires a preconceived idea of ​​what the reader is looking for. A good example of scanning is the use of a directory, such as a phone book or dictionary. 

Needless to say, you do not have to read and understand every line of the phone book to find the right number. Rather, scan only until you find the letter you want, and then scan until you find the exact name you are looking for.

In short, scanning happens when you search for a particular piece of information and scan words until you find the information you are looking for.
